Just over three years ago, twins Louidjy and Louidjyna left Angel House to join their forever family in the United States. Today, Louie and Jyna are nearly 10 years old, growing fast, and building lives filled with family, faith, soccer, and plenty of new adventures.
But Haiti is still very much a part of their story.
This summer, Louie and Jyna had an experience most young soccer players could only dream about: they watched Haiti take the field against Morocco in the World Cup. Surrounded by Haitian fans and supporters, the twins cheered for the country where their own story began.
For two kids who both love soccer, the experience was especially meaningful.
“Seeing Haiti play was a dream come true,” their mom, Lindsey, shared.
Soccer has become a big part of life for both twins. They play themselves, celebrated a recent birthday with a soccer-themed party, and have spent much of the past three years growing up with a ball never too far away.
They've also laced up their running shoes alongside their dad for the Run for One 5K, an annual event hosted by Lifeline Children's Services that brings adoptive families, friends, and advocates together to raise awareness and support for vulnerable children around the world.
Remembering Where They Began
Although Louie and Jyna joined their family in July 2023, the people and experiences that filled their early childhood have not simply disappeared.
For their first anniversary of becoming a family, their parents gave the twins an extraordinary gift: a photo album containing more than 100 pictures from their years at Three Angels.
The twins love looking through it and remembering their life in Haiti.
And one small detail particularly touched our hearts at Three Angels: Jyna still misses her Angel House friend Angela and keeps a photograph of her beside her bed.
For those of us who watched these children grow together at Angel House, it is a precious reminder that the friendships formed here can travel across countries, years, and thousands of miles.
More Than a Milestone
This July brought another special moment for the family when Louie made the decision to follow Jesus and was baptized by his dad.
It wasn't a decision he made lightly. For several months, Louie spent time talking individually with both his mom and dad about the good news of Jesus, asking questions and seeking to understand what God's gift meant for him personally.
When the day came, family and friends gathered around as his dad, Chris, shared part of Louie's story before having the privilege of baptizing his son.
“This is such a proud moment for all of us!” Lindsey shared.
She describes Louie today as kind, brave, funny, and helpful—four words that offer a sweet glimpse of the boy he is becoming.
Some Things Never Change
And then there's Jyna.
She loves school, is a leader in her classroom, and is always eager to learn something new. Someday, she hopes to become a teacher. Outside the classroom, she stays just as busy playing soccer, basketball, and softball—and, according to her mom, she still LOVES being outdoors and competing against the boys.
That last part made us smile.
At Angel House, Jyna grew up alongside a group of five “big boys” her age, and she had absolutely no intention of being left behind. Whether they were running, jumping, throwing, or roughhousing, Jyna was right there with them, holding her own.
Three years later, some things apparently haven't changed. Jyna is still determined and confident, still loves to compete—and when she's not taking on the boys, there's a good chance she's singing somewhere around the house.
Yep. We remember that girl.
A Glimpse from Home
When Louie and Jyna left Angel House in the summer of 2023, we said goodbye to two little children we knew as Louidjy and Louidjyna. We don't get to witness every soccer game, birthday celebration, family adventure, or ordinary afternoon that has followed—and that is exactly as it should be. Those moments now belong to the life they share with their family.
But every so often, we're given a glimpse.
And what a joy it is to see these two growing, thriving, remembering where they came from, and becoming more fully themselves with every passing year.
