Gifts of the Magi

The story, “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry, tells the tale of a young husband and wife who long to give each other meaningful Christmas presents, so each gives up something they treasure in order to afford a gift for the other. You can read that tale another time, but the takeaway is that their gifts were sacrificial—they each gave up something very important for themselves in order to lavish great love on the other with no thought of gaining anything in return.

Many of you did just the same for our Christmas Dinner Event by supplying meals for 300 children and their families in Haiti. These families, who have been through unimaginable struggles this year, would not have had this special addition to their Christmas table had you not shown such generous and selfless love. We are so grateful!

We humbly admit that we were a bit concerned we would not reach our goal. Unlike years past, this year’s event got off to a verrrry slow start. But we should not have doubted you! We know that God loves His people, and we know that He works through YOU so very often to supply the means for His plans.

Of course, this event was not lacking in happy festivity! Enjoy these photos of the day and know that your gifts made a significant impact and brought much comfort and joy to the little ones we all serve, as well as their families.

Thank you!
