Betsaïda arrived at Angel House Orphanage in September 2022 just days following her first birthday. Bearing physical scars of trauma inflicted over her very short life, we were yet to discover that the unseen scars she carried were far, far worse.
Most of our Angel House stories include happy endings with promising futures full of love and possibilities. But not every story ends the same. Today, we are saying goodbye to one of our own cherished angels.
September 8, 2021 - December 21, 2025
On December 21, 2025, our precious, frail Betsaïda at last succumbed to her ongoing severe health issues, and Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Her pulse rate and oxygen levels plummeted overnight, and while we were able to strengthen her breathing with the help of the oxygen tank, Betsaïda's pulse remained frighteningly low. She was rushed to the hospital in the wee hours of the night but could not be saved.
With every health emergency this small girl endured, we braced ourselves for the worst, knowing that this was always a possibility. We placed our trust in God's providence, knowing his goodness and mercy would govern each outcome. We are all grieving Betsaïda's loss, yet we are praising God that this tormented little girl is finally free from pain and at last filled with joy and peace.
Pray for Betsaïda's 11 young housemates as they process the absence of their “sister” and this intrusion of death into their lives. Pray also for our Angel House staff as they navigate this enormous loss, make final arrangements, and shepherd our remaining orphans through this traumatic experience.
Thank you for traveling this road with us, which is so often paved with jagged stones over which we stumble. With you by our side, we are stronger, and we are grateful.
