Orphanage

Angel House Orphanage

Angel House opened its doors on May 1, 2003 in Port au Prince, Haiti. The need for better childcare for Haiti's orphans became clear during the previous two years when the mission of Three Angels was to aid existing orphanages.  It was soon evident that donations collected for other orphanages were not truly reaching and benefiting the children in desperate need. Out of frustration and a deep love for the children of Haiti, came Angel House Orphanage.

In the beginning, Angel House cared for seven infants. Over the years, the capacity of Angel House has risen to up to 44 infants and young children. Many of the  babies abandoned to Angel House lost their parents or had mothers that were too malnourished themselves to even breastfeed. Some were brought by neighbors or grandparents when parents had perished. Some of the children were even found in the trash, close to death. Most of the babies are now growing and developing into healthy young children.

At times, our children are available for adoption. Although Three Angels is not an adoption agency, we work with other organizations to help in the placement of orphaned and abandoned children. To learn more about adopting a child from Haiti, please email Gretchen Huijskens.
